The Thousand Acres occurs as 1991 novel by American author Jane Smiley. The reworking of Shakespeare's King Lear, a novel tells the story of an Iowa farmer world health organization tries to divide his domestic among his ternary girl, by owning calamitous resolutions. It won a 1992 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and was adapted into a film around 1997.
